HHPYC pres
ents "Santa Elena: Rediscovering America's First Century."
Director Elizabeth Greenberg
The saga of Santa Elena is a centuries-old story still unfolding—a story largely unknown to the public before the Santa Elena
History Center opened its doors in 2016. Join us to meet Elizabeth Greenberg, Director of Exhibits for the Coastal Discovery Museum. Director Greenberg will present information about the Coastal Discovery Museum exhibit Santa Elena, an exhibition of 16th century exploration and settlements, archaeological artifacts, and the Spanish town of Santa Elena located on Parris Island, South Carolina from 1566 – 1587. Come learn how Europeans discovered the Beaufort area and Port Royal Sound more than 450 years ago—before St. Augustine, Jamestown, and Plymouth. Discover the origins of Parris Island and the French explorer Jean Ribaut.
January 19, 2023 at the new time of 5:30 pm at the Plantation House. Join us for our general meeting and a get together with neighbors, fellow sea farers, and nautical enthusiasts for a casual Pizza dinner.
