About the event
Daufuskie Island is a favorite stop for boaters and visitors today - but in 1974,
it was an entirely different world.
This December, we invite you to step back in time with guest speakers Carol and Jim Alberto, authors of Daufuskie Daze, as they share their extraordinary nine-year experience teaching and living on the island
when just 85 residents called it home - most of whom had no formal education.
Through vivid stories of rugged island life, curious local characters, and the challenges of schooling in a remote setting, Carol and Jim will bring to life a fascinating chapter of Daufuskie’s past.
It's a slice of Lowcountry history that few have heard, and one you’ll never forget.
